The government has offered a healthy financial sum to resettle an outport fishing community in Newfoundland, but residents must vote unanimously to leave. As the community struggles to choose between the past and the future, relationships rupture when a retired fisherman holds out as the last remaining resident. Adapted from Michael Crummy's novel and directed by Christian Sparkes, Sweetland captures striking Newfoundland storytelling and scenery, and compelling performances by Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones, Sarah Canning, and local legends Mary Walsh, and Andy Jones.
