DIRECTOR: Yousef Srouji • Palestine • 60 minutes
At the turn of the millennium, as the Israeli army retaliates against the Second Intifada in the West Bank, Palestinian mother Suha films her family’s daily life. Time spent sheltering in the basement at night and her two young children’s fear of the shelling are recurring elements. Fast-forward to 2017 when her son discovers the footage and uses it to deliver this heart-breaking portrait about the anguish of parents forced to choose between their children’s safety and the emotional upheaval of leaving home.
